Marc Swayze/Captain Marvel homage - Captain Thor! by Nick-Perks Marc Swayze/Captain Marvel homage - Captain Thor! by Nick-Perks
Marc Swayze/Captain Marvel homage - Captain Marvel with the hammer of Thor!
No particular reason behind this choice - I think I just felt like drawing something 'epic'.
I usually put in some (weak) dialogue but I read this quote from Marc Swayze himself: “My personal philosophy was to use the art in storytelling so that even a child who couldn’t yet read could get a story out of it.” Dialogue? Pah!
Pencil on paper, painted, scanned, coloured.

Thor's hammer+Captain Marvel. At this point, the Red Skull knows that shit just got real.

Yeah - "A Cosmic Cube? That's all you've got?"

You've outdone yourself - I love the classic old school feel of this piece. It makes me nostalgic for the days when comics were simpler and heroes were always on the side of right, not lost in the modern day labyrinth of moral ambiguity (and this from a hardcore fan of Vertigo!)

Thanks! You are too kind (really).
I'm not unhappy with it, which for me is pretty good.
That said, I think a major contribution was made by the sepia tint which I only though to add at the end. That really helps with the yellowed comic-book page effect, and the mood of the whole piece.

The sepia tint does enhance the piece but it's your style used here that really set the mood for me. That and as always, you wonderful expressions :)
