NOT "MARVEL NOW" - One of four spoof covers I did for "Marvel NOW" titles that *aren't* being published. Four?? Well, I was on holiday and couldn't choose...
Jack Kirby's Devil Dinosaur was the suggestion, but I decided I could sensibly work in two of Kirby's other titles, a Celestial from The Eternals and a baby in a sphere a la "2001". Actually, the interference of those star-spanning meddlers The Celestials *would* explain a dinosaur existing at the same time as cavemen. Eternals/Devil Dinosaur cross-over - it's a natural! Incidentally, when I had finished the cover it remided me of this [link] "Why is this chimp crying?" Because DC discovered a number of items on a cover helped it sell: The main character crying; A question; Apes; Dinosaurs; Volcanoes/Fire. I accidentally managed three of those.
Pencil on paper, scanned and completed in Smoothdraw3.
p.s. I liked the celestial so much I did a larger version [link]
Marvelous (no pun intended) - makes me nostalgic for these particular genre of comics. There's a sense of wonder to your cover which is refreshing in a era of increasingly jaded entertainment
